26 Itadakimasu

Minasan wa shokuji no mae ni toku betsu na kotoba o iimasu ka. Do you say a special word before meal ? 

Nihon de wa shokuji o hajimeru mae ni "itadakimasu" to iimasu. In Japan "itadakimasu" said before you start eating.

Kono kotoba wa donna imi o motte iru no deshou ka. What does this word  mean ?

Watashitachi wa mainichi shokuji o shite yasai, sakana, niku, kome, kudamono nado o karada no naka ni tori iremasu. We eat every day and vegetables, fish, meat, rice, fruits, etc. are taken into our bodies.

Sorera wa yagate chitonari niku to natte watashitachi no inochi o sasaete kuremasu. They will eventually become blood and meat and support our lives.

Korekara no niku ya yasai wa minna inochi ga atta mono desu. All of these meat and vegetables are life threatening.

Koushite kangaete miru to watashitachi wa mainichi jitsu ni ooku no doubutsu ya shokubutsu no inochi o itadaite ikite iru koto ga wakarimasu. Thinking in this way, we can see that we are alive with the lives of so many animals and plants every day.

Itadakimasu wa sorera no inochi ni kanshasuru kimochi o arawa shite imasu. Thank you for those lives. It expresses my feelings.

Mata watashitachi ga oishii shokuji o itadaku koto ga dekiru no wa rouka no hito ya ryouri o tsukuru hito nado iroiro na hitotachi no okage desu. It is thanks thanks to various people such as people in the corridor and people who cook food so that we can have delicious meals.

Itadakimasu wa sorera no hito bito ni taisuru kansha no kimochi mo komerarete imasu. "Itadakimasu" also has a feeling of gratitude for those people.

Tsugi no shitsumon no kotae to shite tadashii mono o a, b, c kara hitotsu erande kudasai. Please choose tye correct answer to the following questions from a, b, c.

Ichi

Itsu itadakimasu to iimasu ka.

a. Shokuji ga owatta atode iimasu. After you finish your meal.

b. Shokuji o hajimete kara iimasu. Say after you start eating.

c. Shokuji o hajimeru mae ni iimasu. ✓ Say before you start eating.

Ni

Itadakimasu wa donna imi o motte imasu ka. What does "itadakimasu" mean ?

a. Hitobito no shiawase o inoru toiu imi desu. It means praying for the happiness of people.

b. Oishii ryouri ni manshukusu suru toiu imi desu. It means you are satisfied with delicious food.

c. Ikimono no inochi o itadaku koto ni kansha suru toiu imi desu. ✓ It means tgat you are grateful for the lives of the creatures.

Mondai ni

"Itadakimasu" wa donna imi o motte imasu ka. Mou ichido kiite, tsugi no kotae o kansei shi nasai.

Watashitachi wa mainichi, shokuji o shite, yasai ya niku nado o karada ni naka ni (tori iremasu).

Sorera wa yagate chito nari, niku to natte, watashitachi no inochi o (sasaete kuremasu).

Watashitachi wa mainichi, ooku no doubutsu ya shokubutsu no inochi o (itadaite) ikite iru no desu.

"Itadakimasu" wa, sorera no inochi ni (kanshasuru) kimochi o arawashite imasu.
