A2-2 Lesson 2  Topic 1 Marugoto Plus

Ano onna no hito wa kami ga nagai desu.

The woman has long hair.

Kami ga nagai hito

Person with long hair


N1 (Person) wa N2 ga i adj/ na adj desu

N2 ga i adj-i / na adj-na + N1 (person)

Used when talking about a person' s appearance.

Hito ga ikenteki tokuchou o iutoki ni tsukau.


Structure kouzou zu

N1 (person) wa N2 (part of the body karada no ichibu) ga i adj desu / na adj desu.

                             N2 (part of the body) ga i adj / na adj-na N1 (person)


Example sentences

1. Nakamura san no oniisan wa se ga takai desu. Nakamurasan's older brother is tall.


2. (Pa-ti-no heya de) (At a party room)

A. Suzukisan no tomodachi wa dono hito desu ka. Which one is Suzukisan's friend ?

B. Ano kamiga mijikai onna no hito desu. Hmm, she's the woman with short hair.


3. Me ga ookii otoko no kobwa, hosesan no musukosan desu. Tge boy with the big eyes is Hosesan's son.

V te iru + N (person)

Used when describing a person by mentioning the person's actions, an object the person is wearing, etc. Hito no dousa ya, mi ni tsukete iru mono nado o nobete, hito o byousha suru toki ni tsukau.

1. Hosesan no musukosan wa ke-ki o tabete imasu. Hosesan's son is eating a cake.


2. A. Doa no chikaku ni tatteru hito wa dare desu ka. Who is the person standing near the door ?

B. Ano, sensei to hanashiteru hito desu ka. Arewa kunosan desu. Hmm, the person talking to the teacher ? That's kunosan.


3. Shinsan no oneesan wa akai sari- o kite iru hito desu. Shinsan's older sister is the person wearing the red sari.


4. (Pa-ti- no heya de) (At a party room)

A. Joisan no goshujin wa dono hito desu ka. Which one is Joysan's husband ?

B. Ano megane o kaketeru hito desu. Hmm, he's tge person wearing glasses.


Commentary kaisetsu

- In conversation, "~ te masu" and "te ru hito" is used more often instead of "~ te imasu" and "~ te iru". Kaiwa dewa, "~te imasu" yori, "~temasu" ya "~te ru hito" no houga yoku tsukawareru.

Isu ni (suwatte iru) hito wa watashi no sensei desu.


Yasashisoudesu./ Jouzusoudesu. He/ she looks kind. It looks like he/ she is good at it.

Yasashisouna hito. He/ she looks like a kind person.

Gaiken kara hito no inshou o iu toki ni tsukau.

 Used when talking about one's impression of a person from outward appearance.

Jouzu(na) +soudesu --> jouzusoudesu

Reibun

1. Asoko de asonde iru kodomotachi wa tanoshisoudesu.

The children playing over there look like they're having fun.


2. (Shashin o minagara) (While looking at a picture)

A. Kono otoko no hito wa donata desu ka. Who is this man ?

B. Watashi no ani desu. He's my older brother.

C. Oniisan, majimesouna hito desu ne. Your older brother looks like he's serious/ dependable person.


3. Abesan no imoutosan wa atama ga yosasoudesu. Abesan's younger sister looks like she's smart/ intelligent.


4. Suzukisan wa tanjoubi pa-ti-no toki, purezento o takusan moratte, ureshisoudeshita. Suzukisan looked happy receiving many presents during the birthday party.


Sankou

- Sono osushi, oishisoudesu ne./ Sore, benrisouna ifu desu ne. ◇ shokyuu 1 dai juuni ka

- Kono e wa nihon de ichiban furui manga da sou desu.

Used when saying how the action is being done, or what the results of the action are. Dono youni sono dousa o shite iru ks, dousa o shita kekka ga douka iu toki ni tsukau.

Example Sentences

1. Kinou no pa-ti- de atarashii tomodachi to tanoshiku hanashimashita. I had fun with a new friend at yesterday's party.


2. Kodomotachiwa tanoshisouni uta o utatte imasu. The children looks like they're having fun singing songs. 


3. Pa-ti-no heya ni hana o kirei ni kazarimashita. I decorated the party room prettily with flowers.


4. Ji o ookiku kakimasu. I will write in large characters.


Commentary

- When making a supposition from appearance by looking at another person's actions, use "~ sou ni ...".
